Life on Mulberry Street....
I grew up on Mulberry Street. It was the home of my childhood. My Mulberry Street home was a home filled with love, safety, and support. My Mulberry Street home was an old row house built in the 1800’s. The interior had fixtures dating back in time. The wallpapers, the wood workings, and the original pot belly stove created a rich history.
Within those historic walls, my mother and father created a secure happy family life, full of interaction with neighbors and relatives. Kelsey desired the same life, with the same ongoing relationships.
That was the motivation behind Mulberry Street. Mulberry Street would embrace the same good life, with the same family, friends, and secure future. After all that is what a home should be, a gathering place for one’s family and friends.
Mulberry Street allows Kelsey the right to choose her caregivers from those who she knows and likes. Kelsey’s caregivers are dedicated to her, as they focus on her desires and help her to live a quality life.
Today, at Mulberry Street, Kelsey shares a home with her mom, in the same neighborhood, amongst her friends, close by her church, and surrounded by her professionals. After all, living in her natural home and community is Kelsey’s desire. That is her choice. Kelsey is doing the things which she enjoys the most.
Kelsey is entitled to a quality of life. Her life needn’t be, the rich things of this world. Her life should be a secure happy location with a life full of activity. Kelsey shouldn’t have to leave her home, family, neighbors or church. After all, living at home is Kelsey’s desire. That is her choice. She lives and loves her life at home. She is doing the things which she enjoys the most. And all it took, was an ISL named Mulberry Street.
Mulberry Street ISL is licensed and certified by the State of Missouri's Department of Mental Health to provide Medicaid-Waiver Services and supports. Mulberry Street ISL allows Kelsey to achieve her PCP outcomes and meet the objectives in the most natural setting of her home and community. Mulberry Street ISL allows Kelsey to live in the least restrictive setting.
